  • As part of the change, USCIS collects Biometrics and done updates to the form and how the applications are processed for anyone using I-539. This change impacts H4, F1, L2 and many other visa holders that use I-539 form with USCIS. We cover the details of the changes, impact to processing times in general since the change.
USCIS will resume premium processing for FY 2021 cap-subject H-1B petitions requesting a change of status from F-1 nonimmigrant status no later than May 27, 2020; for all other FY 2021 cap-subject H-1B petitions, premium processing will resume no earlier than June 29, 2020.

 Must inform ISAO of any request for evidence, approval, denial, and receipt notice number. A change of status can take anywhere from 2 to 12 months but it could take longer.  You should receive an I-797, A Notice of Action from USCIS within 10 days of the date your check or money order was cashed.

Situation: I filed for h1b visa this year and it was picked in lottery, I was on f1 stem opt which expired on Jun 22 2018 but was working on cap gap visa till September 30 2018. My petition for h1b was denied on Oct 6th 2018. Hence I am on f1 60 days grace period which is valid till Nov 30 2018.
